Today’s Children Have Alternatives.
What resources are available for our children when their behavior or health is a concern? When we, as parents, recognize that our child needs help, it often comes at a time where we are worn out ourselves, after trying to support our child through parenting. A meeting with the school or family doctor then can be a stressing situation, especially when medication is the only solution offered. Know that with an assessment of ADHD, ADD, learning disability, bipolar disorder, autism spectrum disorder, you have alternatives. With this sharing, I’m hoping to inspire you to choose well in the care of your child and yourself.
In the following stories, I have worked with children of different ages using ‘The Journey’. We all have emotions, and we all have memories. With this guided introspection, you can access your inner body wisdom and uncover a block. Your child knows perfectly which emotion and memory he or she has to go to, during the session. As a parent, your total acceptance and love is a great support when your child is opening up and letting go of any unneeded baggage. It can even change a family dynamic.
Frank, 9 years old, was growing strong physically, and was threatening his mom and her fiancée. His mother was worried of this behavior, “how will this behavior affect us when he is getting older and stronger”, and “we want to get married, but my son doesn’t seem to approve”. In the session, a conflict came up that he had had with neighbor children, not so long ago. When going through the memory again, he saw the uselessness of their behavior. He was able to word out his own thoughts about the situation. This had not occurred to him before. Just by checking in, this new option was available to him. He stopped pushing his family around and became a friendlier brother and son.
Kim, 11 years old, was becoming more introvert and had a new school to go to after summer. Two events in her life had brought up a lot of questions about life, which she never had been able to ask about. The hurt had built up. Now, by going back in to the memory, she asked “why?”. The shift in her self was like the sun coming out. Her confidence now radiates every time I meet her.
Howard, 5 years old, has many food allergies and has mood swings. He is not so happy in school. In the session that we did, the allergies were not addressed. Instead the issue was about receiving help. That opened up positive changes to come for him. And they did. A weakened immune system and all sorts of allergies can be cleared with The Journey.
Kay, 12 years old, was cyber bullied and had eczema. Both were building up in intensity. In the session we had, we spent some extra time in the dialog between her and the other children. Kay had a great feeling for the other children’s reactions and behaviors, as if they were in the room. One week later, she called me and shared that her mom had organized a meeting with the children and the parents. It went just like it did in her integration. The bullying stopped.
With younger children a Journey session usually takes about 30 minutes. With older children a session takes up to an hour.
